Hello, all.

I have been a frequenter of this forum/website for a month or so now and have greatly appreciated the information…I know none of you personally, so I feel I should preface with an introduction--

My name is Daril Fannin.  I live in Fayetteville, TN and am a graduate of Motlow State Community College.  In my short 23 years, I have earned various titles…“barista”, “combat medic”, “magna cum laude”, “best warrior”, “business owner”, “reverend”, “husband”...

…I was most recently honored as Tennessee’s “Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year”-- suffice it to say I'm a “jack of all trades & master of none!” LOL

Most of my life I have enjoyed expressing myself through music, lyric, parody, and short story.  Screenplay, however, is somewhat of a new discovery for me.  Being a self-motivated learner Geek, I have read all of the “essentials”— Screenplay: the foundations of screenwriting, Making a good script great, Adventures in screentrade, Creating unforgettable characters, etc.   Unfortunately, frequent military training has left me unable to take any college courses in screenplay thus far… (though I hope that I will have a long enough break in the spring semester to do so…Big smile)

That being said, I feel what I need most at this point is integration.  However, because of obligations (military and otherwise) I am not able to attend the association’s regular meetings. Ermm While I cannot afford hefty fees to have “professionals” review my scripts, I feel this is what I need.  Of course, it would be most beneficial to have a mentor...or someone to at least look at my screenplay and say "this is Censored and this is why...", I understand that most do not have the time or desire to do so in this day and time.

All of that being said, I am open to and grateful for any suggestions.

Hello Daril

What I'd suggest is join the TSA ($25 bucks a year). Regiser in the  forum and start posting your stuff for peer review. First with premises sheets, followed by synopsis and the 10-15 chunks of script.

We have several members who will be happy to give it to you straight up. One of my favorite sayings is that we are not a mutual admiration society.

There is always room for improvement of food for thought.

We have several venues in the Peer Review section designed specifically for feedback.

Welcome and I hope we can offer you the feedback, info and guidance you're looking for. If you are not already, joint the Facebook group. We post info and tips every day.

Thank you.  I definately will.  Do you all ever meet on a night other than Wednesdays?... I might be able to find a way to at least make it to one session...

We've been meeting on Wednesday nights since 1988. It's pretty much set in stone. In the Spring we will be hosting a weekend seminar as the kick off to the big multi-day Film-com film financing event. That dovetails into the Nashville Film festival.
