Winner of the 2026 'Short 'N Sweet' Script Contest: Brooke Mihalek

At this year's Spring Social, sponsored by the Tennessee Screenwriting Association, writer Brooke Mihalek won the TSA's 'Short 'N Sweet' script contest with her romantic drama, One Last Ride.

The logline for One Last Ride is: A retired widower volunteers his time giving cancer patients rides to treatment. After multiple rides with a quirky Asian woman, the two form a bond that transcends cultural differences and find love in the most unexpected place.

Congratulations to Brooke, who recently had a script win the 4th Wall Film Challenge in Nashville.

Judges for this year's Short 'N Sweet contest were Jason Allen, Peter Kremer, Bob Giordano, Heidi-Marie Ferren, Shantell Ogden, and Bob Saenz. The Contest Manager was Daniel Spear.

Following the announcement of the contest finalists and winner, local actors did a live table read of One Last Ride, which was taped for use in a future episode of TSA's streaming series Page 2 Screen.

Other Finalists in this year's Sweet contest, in alphabetical order, were:

Night Watch - Victor Atkins

Choose Your Mode - Sam Flynn

Come Home, Sam - Gary Frazier

Paint By Numbers - Mark Sundermann

Other competitions running throughout the year include 'Short 'N Silly' (comedy) and 'Short 'N Scary' (horror). A new competition coming this summer will be announced soon.
