Calling all comedy scribes: It's time to get silly!
The Tennessee Screenwriting Association (TSA) has announced the launch of its first-ever Short ‘N Silly script contest—an opportunity for members to flex their funny bones and compete for glory, bragging rights, and prizes including a trophy.
The competition is open exclusively to TSA members and challenges writers to submit original short comedy scripts of no more than 15 pages. Submissions must follow standard screenplay formatting (Courier font, 12 pt) and be received by July 14, 2025.
“The goal is simple,” said contest manager Daniel Spear. “Make us laugh—and keep it short.”
There’s no entry fee for current members, and those who haven’t yet joined the Tennessee Screenwriting Association can do so before entering. Membership details and the official contest entry form are available at www.TennScreen.com/short-n-silly.
Winners will receive their prizes—including that coveted trophy— at TSA's Summer Social on July 30 in Nashville.
So whether you're a punchline pro, a sketch comedy savant, or a feature writer looking to stretch your comedic chops in miniature, Short ‘N Silly offers a chance to test your humor in a supportive community of fellow writers.
So sharpen your wit, tighten those pages, and prepare to bring the funny. The deadline is approaching fast—don’t miss your shot to be short, silly, and seriously entertaining.
