The Tennessee Screenwriting Association ("TSA") announces the winner of its first 'Short 'N Silly' script contest is Nashville screenwriter Jason Allen with his script, "The Putt Putt Preacher."

Jason currently holds the record for the most Finalist-level placements in TSA's script contests over the last year. He has written dozens of shorts and features which have placed in national and international script contests. Jason has had multiple scripts optioned and made into films, several of which screened at TSA's RIFF festival last November. Jason is also the screenwriter for the feature film Lucky Fritz starring Corey Feldman.

Other Finalists in TSA's Short 'N Silly contest included the scripts Operation Naptime by Cameron Crain, Nevermore by Wendy Weising, and Private Dick by Judy Klass. Another script by Jason Allen - Jasper + Mimi Forever - was also a Finalist.

The criteria for Short 'N Silly was that the script had to be a comedy, a narrative story and less than 15 pages. The Silly contest was only open to TSA Members and 22 scripts were submitted.

The judges for Short 'N Silly were Bob Giordano, Peter Kremer, Bob Saenz, Heidi-Marie Ferren and James Vallejo - their bios are here.

TSA would like to thank all entrants for submitting to the contest, as well as the judges who volunteered their time to read material. A special thanks to contest manager Daniel Spear for making it all work.

Jason's script, along with the other Finalist scripts, are available to read in the Member Portal.

The next TSA script contest will be the 2025 Short 'N Scary contest which is themed around horror/spooky/Halloween. The deadline for that will be October 30, 2025. More details on Short 'N Scary are coming soon at www.TennScreen.com.
