The life of a TV staff writer isn’t always glamorous. Crazy hours, constant challenges, creative hurdles, and, more often than not, an unrivaled dependence on caffeine. Or wine. Sometimes both.
Fortunately, those of us who know how difficult a job it is to not just land, but excel at, relish the chance to celebrate such an outstanding achievement. Particularly when it’s for one of our own.
So when we learned that "Samurai" - episode 103 of the Fox crime drama series Memory of a Killer - was co-written by TSA Board member Heidi-Marie Ferren, we sprang into action and not even Nashville's recent Ice-pocalypse could stop us!
Teaming up with Ole Smoky Distillery, we arranged to put Patrick Dempsey—in the role of a hitman in the early stages of dementia, whose two very different lives start to unravel along with his memory—on the biggest screen they have. It was a night of mind-bending twists and turns (mostly on the show) with great company, food, and spirits as we lauded Heidi-Marie and enjoyed watching her take the helm of “McDreamy’s” thrilling turn to the dark side.
While most of us couldn’t resist peppering her with questions throughout the event, after the show, Heidi-Marie spent more time answering them. And even though the Killer's writers room has wrapped for season 1, we’re eagerly awaiting all that comes next for the show, but more importantly what comes next for the amazingly talented Heidi-Marie Ferren!
