This year's 'Summer Social' brought over 30 creatives together at the NECAT studio in West Nashville to celebrate the success of Tennessee's screenwriters and to let their hair down and have some fun!
After a review of the dozens of contest and festival placements that TSA Members have scored with their scripts in 2025, president Mark Naccarato gave a recap of TSA's programs this year, which included Script School, our ongoing Open Mic and Study Hall series, a schedule of new Page 2 Screen episodes coming in August, and our recent Table Read event with 4th Wall Acting Studio.

Mark then handed it off to Melissa Sheridan who led a party game that gave each table group a character and genre prompt and a challenge to come up with a logline in 5 minutes. Three finalists were chosen and then the entire room voted on the winner with a show of hands and a round of applause. The winning team, which included Cat Stewart, Sarah Smith, and SAG-AFTRA's Carla-Christina Contreras using the prompts of a "misunderstood monster" character and "adventure" as the genre, brought the house down with a logline about "a monster with a need for social interaction must overcome the perceptions of humans to take a job that will allow him to blossom."
Next, we got an update from Cat about what's brewing at this year's Nashville Film Festival coming in September and then we were treated to an exclusive first look at the new trailer from writer/producer Shantell Ogden's upcoming film Music City Mistletoe, which releases this fall.
Thanks to the NECAT team for, as always, providing a great facility and support for TSA, our planning team who made the trains run on time, and of course to those who came out on a hot, steamy weeknight to celebrate with us.
