Call for Entries! Your Scary Script Could Be Made Into A Movie!
The Tennessee Screenwriting Association is now taking submissions for its annual Short 'N Scary script contest in partnership with CharlieHorse Productions.
The contest winner will have their script produced and made into a film!
Here are the main details you need to know, but please refer to the TSA website for complete information.
Theme:
Horror/Thriller (appropriate for a PG-13 rating)
Deadline:
October 25, 2026
Format:
Maximum 10 pages in standard screenplay format (12 pt courier).
Prizes:This year’s prize package includes:
An opportunity to have your script produced by CharlieHorse productions.
$200 cash prize.
One ticket to TSA’s Script-Com Screenwriters Conference in Nashville.
Complimentary one-year extension on membership in the TSA.
“Writers Survival Kit” of gift cards and TSA merch.
Custom trophy to be presented at a ceremony in Nashville.
Eligibility:
There is no entry fee, but the contest is only open to dues-paying TSA Members. Non-members may join or renew TSA at the regular membership rate of $25/year and then enter their script. You do not have to live in Tennessee to be a TSA Member.
Production Mandates:Because this contest will result in a completed film, writers should review the list of locations and production resources available through the production company and our recommendations about making the script “highly-producible” before submitting an entry.
